Introducing the Economizer Red Zone
Economizer Red Zone Retirement Edition
The Economizer Saver is a weekly newsletter written for those (give or take) within 10 years before or after retirement. Basically, my cohort.
The financial road we’ve traveled — or are still traveling — was challenging. Much of today’s conventional advice doesn’t serve people well and often lets them down.
In reality, our future holds one of three possibilities:
1. Fear — worrying about overspending and running out of money
2. A reduced lifestyle — scaling back to make sure the money lasts
3. Living to our fullest potential — the one we actually want
My goal is to guide you safely toward that third option by helping you understand:
The Five Types of Wealth
Ways to retire on less money
How to stay retired
How to simplify the concerns many of us face
And, of course, how to keep the IRS out of your pocket
This comes from years of gray-hair wisdom (I have no idea how I got this old so quickly) and 43 years as an accountant and economist, serving as a second set of eyes for hundreds of people.
What are the five most expensive words we all have to worry about?
Over the decades, I’ve heard these words again and again: “Everything is taken care of.” Sadly, for many people, those words turned out to be the five most expensive words they ever said.
I can say with certainty too many holes happen.
You can’t plan for everything, but you can plan for anything.
President Eisenhower put it best: “Plans are nothing; planning is everything.” The active process of thinking ahead builds the flexibility to handle whatever comes.
Journey with me as we explore how the simplest things — all without paying fees — can bring remarkable results. Together, we’ll embrace new perspectives and have some fun along the way that helps you thrive.
This journey becomes more than just a newsletter — it becomes a community. I’ve included three links below: one showing how Chat works, one taking you straight into the community conversation, and one to message me privately. Use them. The more we share questions, ideas, and real experiences, the more value we create together.
